Digital Submission Information

New Music Forum is accepting digital submissions for the Annual Festival of Contemporary Music.  We have moved to this method of submissions because the FCM staff is made up of composers and we understand that it costs a lot of time and money to make copies of scores, burn CDs for the recording and mail the submission packet.  We hope that this method will streamline the review and selection process allowing the FCM staff more time to create a better festival.

The preferred file formats for submission are:
•    Score – PDF
•    Recording – MP3
•    Contact information – PDF
•    ZIP and RAR archives of all of the submission materials are acceptable.

To submit the files we request that you use a service such as You Send It (www.yousendit.com).  You Send It is a free and easy service for sending large files over the internet.  Please do not email the files directly to us.  Failure to follow this direction will lead to the disqualification of you submission.

For those unfamiliar with You Send It, there is an easy six-step process for sending the files.

1.    Go to www.yousendit.com
2.    Enter the FCM submission email address in the To: section – fcm.submission (at) gmail (dot) com
3.    Enter your email address in the From: section
4.    Enter “FCM Submission” in the Subject section
5.    Select files for sending
6.    Click the “Send It” button

Once we have received the links from You Sent It and successfully downloaded the files, Brian will send you an email confirming receipt of the submission packet.  If you do not receive an email within 3 days of submission, please contact Brian.

Other File Services
There are other free online services to which you can upload large files.  Megaupload and Rapidshare are just two such services.  If you wish to use of these services rather than You Send It, please email Brian Bice and John Bilotta with the direct links to the files.

If the pieces you wish to submit are on your personal website, you may send us direct links to the files for download.  Please do not direct us to your website saying that I wish to submit “X” piece for us to find and download.  Since we receive many submissions for the Festival we are requesting direct links to the files for downloading.  If there are no direct links in the submission we will consider it incomplete.
